Cathy Schoenberg
"My Brilliant Circus"
Cathy was tremendously excited when I asked her to do an installation in the gallery. "Wow! I can do a circus!" she exclaimed with eyes wide! When the circus came to town, there were high wire acts, trapeze artists that would swing back and forth when patrons pulled ropes on the opposite side of the gallery, even an audience, which consisted of white plaster faces hanging on the white walls of the gallery.
She made the faces by using soft clay to make a mold of her own face,
and then pulled and pushed the mold to distort the features.
