The Oregon Dunes -- August 1982

This photograph was made on a different day from a roadside 'viewpoint'. In an attempt to halt the Eastward progress of the dunes, beach grasses were imported from Australia. Theoretically, the beach grass will hold the sand in place, preventing the Dunes from capturing more valuable real estate. Of course, the grass is likely to spread, and I still wonder if someday they won't 'kill' the Dunes.
